CICADAS SERIES

Qionghui Zou has always created the works themed by cicadas, which were visually appeared with the aesthetic sense by creature’s physical features and shown in the sense of archaeology with the immortal nephrite (or rebirth) culture implication from Chinese tradition as well. Other than Mondrian’s Cold Abstract (Hard Edge Abstract) with simple and pure geometries, and different from Wassily Kandinsky’s Hot Abstract with clear and graceful points, lines and area in color, Qionghui Zou’s Cicadas series took the shape characteristic out of the works and made the sense of coloring the subject in it, enthusiastic and all-embracing. It became the spiritual structure of New Abstract Consciousness beyond the art history.
